WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount 4000 Wine Cellar Cooling System
A ceiling-mounted split system for cellars up to 1,000 cu. ft. — the evaporator tucks into the ceiling while a remotely mounted, high-efficiency condenser does the work up to 100 feet away.
Ceiling Mount 4000 Key Features & Benefits
Space-Saving Ceiling Design
The evaporator installs overhead so nothing takes up wall or floor space — a clean solution for cellars up to 1,000 cu. ft. where racking covers the walls.
Split-System Flexibility
The compressor and condenser live outside the cellar. Locate the condenser up to 100 line feet away in a garage, mechanical room, basement, or rooftop.
Advanced 220V High-Efficiency Condenser
Oversized condenser coils maintain strong cooling even in hot mechanical rooms, and the 220V high-efficiency design draws roughly 50% less power than a comparable 110V unit while holding a 55°F cellar.
Precise Digital Control
An advanced digital display (50-ft cable) works with a liquid-temperature-measuring bottle probe, so the thermostat reads the true temperature of your wine rather than the air.
Optional 24V Smart Thermostat
An optional 24V thermostat conversion lets your contractor install a Nest, Ecobee, or Honeywell thermostat. Note: choosing this option removes the standard WhisperKOOL control and bottle probe, and the smart thermostat is sourced separately.

Where It Fits in the Range
The Ceiling Mount 4000 is rated for cellars up to 1,000 cu. ft. Smaller rooms are served by the Mini Ceiling Mount (up to 500 cu. ft.); for larger spaces, step up to the Ceiling Mount 8000 (up to 2,000 cu. ft.) or the Ceiling Mount Twin. Always confirm sizing with a heat-load calculation before ordering.
A Note on Sizing
The cellar-size rating assumes a fully insulated room with a complete vapor barrier. Design factors such as glass walls, stone or concrete, high ambient temperatures, frequent door openings, or in-cellar lighting can increase the cooling load. When in doubt, choose the next capacity up — an undersized unit can run continuously, fail to reach temperature, and is not covered under warranty. We're happy to help you run the numbers.
Installation & Setup
Professional installation required: WhisperKOOL split systems must be installed by a qualified, licensed HVAC/R technician. Installation by anyone else will void the warranty.
Pre-Installation Requirements
- Fully insulated cellar with a complete vapor barrier
- Evaporator: dedicated 120V, 15-amp circuit
- Condenser: dedicated 220V, 15-amp circuit (or 110V for the OMEGA option)
- Adequate ceiling depth and support for the evaporator
- Line set sized per run length (not included)
Placement & Distances
- Evaporator mounts into the cellar ceiling
- Condenser up to 100 line ft from the evaporator
- Condenser can sit in a mechanical room, basement, garage, or rooftop
- Provide clear airflow around the condenser
- Route a 1/4" ID drain line from the evaporator
Cellar Design Best Practices
- Maintain consistent insulation and seal all air leaks
- Install a properly weatherstripped cellar door
- Complete the vapor barrier on the warm side of the insulation
- Plan rack layout for good air circulation
Maintenance
- Keep condenser coils clean and clear of debris
- Check the digital controller and bottle probe periodically
- Inspect the drain line for free flow
- Schedule an annual professional inspection
