Extreme 3500tiR Through-the-Wall Key Features & Benefits

Through-the-Wall, Self-Contained

The 3500tiR mounts directly through the cellar wall as a single self-contained unit — no separate condenser to place or field-charge.

Variable-Speed Fan Technology

Variable-speed fans modulate to match demand, lowering noise and improving efficiency versus fixed-speed systems.

Liquid-Temperature Bottle Probe

The digital control reads the true temperature of your wine, not just the air, keeping the cellar at proper aging conditions.

Dual-Refrigerant Ready

Built for R-134a / R-513a, aligning with current lower-GWP refrigerant standards.

Flexible Power

Runs on a standard 115V, 20-amp dedicated circuit (230V subject to availability).

Where It Fits in the Range

The through-the-wall Extreme tiR line covers cellars up to 800 cu. ft. (3500tiR), 1,250 cu. ft. (5000tiR), and 2,000 cu. ft. (8000tiR). A fully ducted version of each is also available. Confirm sizing with a heat-load calculation before ordering.

A Note on Sizing

The cellar-size rating assumes a fully insulated room with a complete vapor barrier. Design factors such as glass walls, stone or concrete, high ambient temperatures, frequent door openings, or in-cellar lighting can increase the cooling load. When in doubt, choose the next capacity up — an undersized unit can run continuously, fail to reach temperature, and is not covered under warranty. We're happy to help you run the numbers.

Installation & Setup

The Extreme tiR through-the-wall is a self-contained unit — one piece, no separate condenser. Plan the wall opening, a dedicated circuit, and exhaust-side ventilation before installation.

Pre-Installation Requirements

  • Fully insulated cellar with a complete vapor barrier (min. R-19)
  • Dedicated 115V, 20-amp circuit
  • Through-the-wall opening sized for the unit
  • Adequate ventilation on the condenser/exhaust side
  • 1/2" ID drain line routed to a suitable drain

Placement & Airflow

  • Mount so the exhaust side has free airflow and can dump heat
  • Keep the exhaust space ventilated and unobstructed
  • Do not recirculate exhaust air back to the intake
  • Allow service clearance around the unit

Cellar Design Best Practices

  • Maintain consistent insulation and seal all air leaks
  • Complete the vapor barrier on the warm side of the insulation
  • Install a properly weatherstripped cellar door
  • Plan rack layout for good air circulation

Maintenance

  • Keep condenser coils clean and clear of debris
  • Check the digital controller and bottle probe periodically
  • Inspect the drain line for free flow
  • Schedule an annual professional inspection
Sizing matters: the cellar-size rating assumes a fully sealed, insulated room. Glass, stone, concrete, high ambient temperatures, or frequent door openings increase the load — an undersized unit can run continuously, fail to reach temperature, and is not covered under warranty. We're glad to help you run the numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between through-the-wall and fully ducted tiR?

Both share the same variable-speed platform. This through-the-wall version mounts directly in the cellar wall; the fully ducted version mounts out of sight and ducts air in.

Is it a split system?

No. It's self-contained — one unit. There's no separate condenser to place or field-charge.

Does it need a dedicated circuit?

Yes — a dedicated 115V, 20-amp circuit (230V is subject to availability).
