Large, slow-turning fans keep the condenser near 45 dBA
Flexible Placement
Mount the condenser up to 100 line ft away — basement, mechanical room, or rooftop

Platinum Split 4000 Ducted Key Features & Benefits

Fully Ducted, Concealed Design

The evaporator can be installed up to 25 duct feet from the cellar and ducted in, so no equipment is visible inside your wine room. The result is a clean, quiet space with conditioned air delivered through 8" supply and 10" return ducting.

Advanced 220V High-Efficiency Condenser

Oversized condenser coils maintain strong cooling even in hot, humid mechanical rooms, and the 220V high-efficiency design draws roughly 50% less power than a comparable 110V unit. The system can hold a 55°F cellar with condenser air intake temperatures as high as 120°F.

Whisper-Quiet Operation

Large, slow-rotation fans move plenty of air while keeping the condenser around 45 dBA. Direct thermostat-cable communication eliminates pump-down cycling for smoother, quieter runtime.

Precise Digital Control

An advanced digital display (50-ft cable) works with a liquid-temperature-measuring bottle probe, so the thermostat reads the true temperature of your wine rather than the air — protecting your collection from swings.

Cold Weather Start Kit Included

This unit ships with the Cold Weather Start Kit at no extra charge, allowing reliable operation with the condenser exposed to temperatures as low as -15°F.

Optional 24V Smart Thermostat

Prefer smart-home control? An optional 24V thermostat conversion lets your contractor install a Nest, Ecobee, or Honeywell thermostat. Note: choosing this option removes the standard WhisperKOOL control and bottle probe, and the smart thermostat is sourced separately.

Where It Fits in the Range

The Platinum Split 4000 is rated for cellars up to 1,000 cu. ft. and is available as a visible wall-mounted unit or this fully ducted (concealed) version. For larger spaces, step up to the Platinum Split 8000 (up to 1,750 cu. ft.) or the Platinum Split Twin for the largest cellars. Always confirm sizing with a heat-load calculation before ordering.

A Note on Sizing

The cellar-size rating assumes a fully insulated room with a complete vapor barrier. Design factors such as glass walls, stone or concrete, high ambient temperatures, frequent door openings, or in-cellar lighting can increase the cooling load. When in doubt, choose the next capacity up — an undersized unit can run continuously, fail to reach temperature, and is not covered under warranty. We're happy to help you run the numbers.

Installation & Setup

Professional installation required: WhisperKOOL split systems must be installed by a qualified HVAC/R technician. Installation by anyone other than a licensed HVAC/R technician will void the warranty.

Pre-Installation Requirements

  • Fully insulated cellar with a complete vapor barrier
  • Evaporator: dedicated 120V, 15-amp circuit
  • Condenser: dedicated 220V, 15-amp circuit (or 110V for the OMEGA option)
  • Line set sized per run length (not included)
  • 8" supply / 10" return duct runs planned

Placement & Distances

  • Evaporator ducted up to 25 duct ft from the cellar
  • Condenser up to 100 line ft from the evaporator
  • Condenser can sit in a mechanical room, basement, garage, or rooftop
  • Provide clear airflow around the condenser
  • Route a 1/2" ID drain line from the evaporator

Cellar Design Best Practices

  • Maintain consistent insulation and seal all air leaks
  • Install a properly weatherstripped cellar door
  • Complete the vapor barrier on the warm side of the insulation
  • Plan rack layout for good air circulation

Maintenance

  • Keep condenser coils clean and clear of debris
  • Check the digital controller and bottle probe periodically
  • Inspect the drain line for free flow
  • Schedule an annual professional inspection
Cold-climate installs: this unit includes the Cold Weather Start Kit at no charge, keeping the system operational with the condenser exposed to temperatures as low as -15°F — important because heating your home indirectly warms the cellar and the cooling system needs to keep running through winter.

Warranty Coverage

WhisperKOOL Factory Warranty

Two-Year Limited Warranty

A limited 2-year parts & labor warranty covers manufacturing defects on all WhisperKOOL split systems. The warranty begins at the date of purchase but is not activated until a Product Warranty Checklist has been submitted to and approved by WhisperKOOL, so be sure to register your system after installation.

How Warranty Claims Work

All warranty claims are handled directly by WhisperKOOL, the manufacturer. Warranty repairs are performed at WhisperKOOL's facility in Stockton, CA, or — with WhisperKOOL's prior authorization — by a licensed HVAC/R technician. If a unit cannot be repaired in the field and is still under warranty, WhisperKOOL covers the shipping cost to return the unit (excluding customs fees and duties).

As an authorized WhisperKOOL dealer, we're glad to help you start your claim and coordinate with WhisperKOOL.

Limited warranty applies only to wine cooling units purchased directly from WhisperKOOL or through an authorized dealer. Damage caused by others or beyond WhisperKOOL's control is not considered a defect in material or workmanship and is not covered. The limited warranty does not cover parts or labor to correct any defect caused by negligence, commercial use, accident, improper maintenance, installation, service/repair, or improper use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the ducted and wall-mounted Platinum Split 4000?

Both use the same cooling system. The wall-mounted version puts the evaporator grille inside the cellar; this ducted version keeps the evaporator hidden and delivers air through ductwork for a completely concealed look.

Do I need a professional to install it?

Yes. Split systems require installation by a qualified HVAC/R technician; installation by anyone else voids the warranty.

Is a line set included?

No. The line set is sized to your specific run and is purchased separately: liquid line 1/4" OD, suction line 1/2" OD under 50 ft (5/8" OD over 50 ft).

How far can the condenser be from the cellar?

The condenser can be located up to 100 line feet from the evaporator, and the ducted evaporator can be up to 25 duct feet from the cellar — giving you flexible placement options.
